Case Study:

British Universities Dry Slope (BUDS) Championship 2011.

Intro.

The Events Committee of the British Universities Snowsports Council (BUSC) organises many large scale events throughout the year that involve snow sports societies from all around the UK.

Following the 2011 British Universities Dry Slope competition in Edinburgh at Hillend Snowsports Centre (the biggest dry slope event in the world) we had the pleasure of helping cater to their weekend of celebrations, including a club night at Ocean Terminal on the Friday, and the official BUDS ball and after party on the Saturday at the Corn Exchange, each of which had an attendance of over 2000 students from 70 different universities in the UK.

What we did.

This hire involved us providing full production for both nights including staging, over 30KW’s of sound system and full desk controlled lighting. It also required us to work to a very tight schedule in order to set up correctly at both venues as each venue could only give us a limited time period for set-up and de-rigging in their full weekend schedule.

Prior to the actual event we supplied promotional services in order to help bolster ticket sales, utilising weekly posts through our online social media network and distribution of physical promo such as flyers by our Edinburgh based promo team.

Results.

The whole weekend was a massive success and the BUSC committee were grateful for the services we supplied and the extra work we put in at each event to adhere to the super tight time constraints that were in place in both venues. Feedback on the sound and lighting provided was exceptional, with many compliments being given directly to the whole production team all weekend.
